Our goal is to help your mind be well. In a very real sense, “Mental Illness” is more about BRAIN CHEMICALS IMBALANCES than any other factor. We want to help you recover in any way we can assist. But by helping your body, and thus your brain, follow a path toward health you may regain a fighting chance toward recovery with most value for your effort.

By God’s grace, we hope to help you toward this goal.

Did you know, you are likely lacking in at least one common nutrient?

And you are not alone.

There are at least 36 nutrients (vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and the such) necessary for human life. Almost everyone has deficiency somewhere.

Consider what some have to say:

“92% of U.S. Population Have Vitamin Deficiency. Are You One of Them?” - [Martin G. Bloom, M.D.].

According to NHANES (National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2003-2006) more than 97% of US adults have a potassium intake less than the AI (Adequate Intake). – [Linus Pauling Institute, Oregon State University].

“Iron deficiency anemia affects so many people that it’s now widely recognized as a public health epidemic.” – [Healthline].

“As for calcium, both males and females over 19 years had a prevalence of inadequate intakes ranging from 26.5% to 80.1 % and 47.5% to 86.9%, respectively.” – [Health Canada].

Speaking of Vitamin D deficiency: according to The National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2005 to 2006, “The overall prevalence rate of vitamin D deficiency was 41.6%, with the highest rate seen in blacks (82.1%), followed by Hispanics (69.2%).” – []

Bottom line – Almost everyone is lacking in RDA, AI, ERA, or some other given “standard healthy levels” of at least one nutrient.

Besides this… We ALL have different NEEDS

In addition to being low by “normal standards,” as defined by RDA, AI, ERA, or some other standard, many of us could benefit from a megadose of a specific nutrient for a given condition!

We are not “standard” carbon unit robots. We are Unique Bio-Individuals. If our body is in great need of more than the standard amount recommended, then we may benefit from higher amounts.

Here’s just one example: Extra Vitamin C, if properly administered, can be very helpful to recover from an infection faster. If you have an infection you may need more than “standard amounts.

Doctors Hoffer, Osmond, Pauling and others asked an important question. What nutrient(s) could be given in higher amounts to help people with Schizophrenia (and other conditions)? Their answer was the beginning of Orthomolecular Medicine!

Did you know?

Conventional medicine alone has a lamentable track record in helping people recover from Schizophrenia.

"In King County, Washington, an inquiry into what happened to schizophrenia patients showed that one psychiatrist, who had treated as many as 10,000 patients, could not recall even one patient who had gotten well" – Abram Hoffer, 2009, Psychiatry Yesterday (1950) and Today (2007): From Despair to Hope with Orthomolecular Psychiatry.

While this is not totally predictive of other doctors, even the most optimistic claims are only around 20% to 30% recovery, and most claims are significantly less than 20%.

Meanwhile, the late Dr. Abram Hoffer stated his patients recovered at around 70% to 90% of the time with Orthomolecular Treatments.
